The Significance of Kanaawidan Festival is a celebration in the province of Ilocos Sur primarily it is a anniversary of the province showing there serving as a platform to showcase and preserve the rich Ilocano culture, traditions, and heritage, and family ties of the Ilocano people. it's a way for the community to express gratitude for their heritage and celebrate their Ilocanos. 


The festival marks the historical establishment of the Ilocos Sur province during Spanish times on celebrating around the 2nd of February. The festival brings together the Ilocano community to participate in various activities, fostering a sense of unity and pride in their heritage. Often, the festival includes religious ceremonies, with a mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral in Vigan City highlighting there strong religious beliefs of the Ilocanos. Efforts are made to educate younger generations about their Ilocano heritage through cultural presentations and activities during the festival.
